IT monitoring provider Nimsoft tapped Trainer Communications to up level its message to enhance corporate value. At the foundation of this marketing and PR campaign, Trainer executed a comprehensive internal audit of executives and external audit of customers and prospects. Taking into account this valuable feedback, Trainer worked with Nimsoft to create and validate its new Unified Monitoring message. As the ultimate validation of Nimsoft’s new messaging, Trainer executed a U.S. and EMEA launch that featured coverage from nearly 60 leading IT reporters and bloggers – the majority of which repeated the new messages. As a result of this very successful launch, Nimsoft ultimately attracted the attention of CA Technologies as a major new force in cloud computing for both enterprises and service providers. In fact, Nimsoft made such an impression on CA that it acquired the company in March, 2010. Nimsoft now operates as a separate business unit of CA and has retained Trainer to manage its PR.

Although Avocent had more than two decades of success behind it and was a publicly traded company, it was still a virtual unknown as a data infrastructure player. The goal for Trainer was simple: reduce the number of Avocent-managed outside agencies from 27 to 1; quadruple their media coverage (with a heavy emphasis on business press); and reduce the budget by 50% compared to the previous year. By creating a campaign-based approach quarter to quarter that resonated with prospects and aligned with industry trends, Trainer secured 76 business press articles and 52 IT feature stories within six months – before the company was purchased by Emerson.
