Building a Community via Social Media
Zazzle had launched several years ago and had ridden the wave of the Internet-based store front to decent growth. What the company needed was an infusion of a new audience in one of their key demographics to ignite a vibrant social community to help the Zazzle vision spread virally. Trainer leveraged the power of very influential mommy bloggers to generate a national awareness campaign to drive a major new revenue stream for the company. Using a “try it, you’ll like it” strategy, Trainer engaged these bloggers by allowing them to design their own custom products on Zazzle (using a gift certificate) and then write positive reviews about their design experience. The campaign was overwhelmingly successful as Zazzle won the hearts and minds of hundreds of bloggers who wrote powerful posts, resulting in more than a quarter of a million impressions.
Relaunching Disruptive Technology
Trainer Communications was tasked with re-launching an Ethernet SAN company called Coraid. The company had just closed $10 million in Series A funding, created a new management dream team, and had a disruptive price and performance advantage over legacy FC and iSCSI storage solutions that would change the economics of storage. The team kicked it into high gear and leveraged its deep relationships in the storage press and analyst community, the CEO’s reputation for prior business success, Coraid’s 1,500 customers, and irrefutable cost advantage of $500 per terabyte for an unbelievable launch. In just three weeks, the team secured 24 stories, one analyst research report and five analyst references. Coverage included a video interview with the CEO in Fortune, as well as coverage in USA Today, Network World, InfoStor, CRN, eWEEK, Dow Jones, and the San Jose Business Journal.
